Biography

You can divide my career up into the 12-bit period, the 8-bit period, the 16-bit and the 32-bit, and then the 64-bit, but by that point we scaled to 256 processors...

In any case, I've been a software engineer for 30 years, worn most of the hats, but not in a vertical path. Creativity and problem solving is more my style, I'm a generalist with an eye to the big picture.

Recent work went from inkless photo printer (embedded Linux) to HP Superdome technical consultant (real computers serve as supervisors to really big computers!) plus various hardware, architecture, design over the years. When the Navy needed Y2K help on legacy systems, I was the (civilian) guy they called. I guess that turned out ok. :-)

Learning Drupal because I've got a strong interest and background in journalism and electronic media, and because homegrown content is best. Yup, just branching off into yet another area, who needs to keep climbing the rockpile?
