Camp Feedback

Enjoyed the conference

We are glad that we made the trip from Albuquerque to attend the conference. Here are some of our highlights:

* It was only $10 per person and the value was probably 100 times that
* We learned some new ways to create custom themes in Drupal from a 12-year old based in Poland
* We met the programmers who developed some of the modules that we use quite often
* We met representatives from another Albuquerque-based company that is focused on open source

Now we are inspired to get the buzz going out here. Thanks for a great event!

Fruit at breakfast

Loved those blueberries at breakfast! Thanks Matthew

synchronize payment with registration

i know there were attempts to make this clear, but in the end i was uncertain that my registration was firm when the "sold out" announcement came; i wonder if some registered people never paid/attended because they thought it was too late?

to clarify things, and also perhaps to help prevent some hurt feelings when the next camp sells out, i suggest that payment and registration for the camp occur at the same time, and that the process be opened as early as possible in development of the event

Feedback

I missed the post DCC improvement discussion so here is my feedback:

1. A calendar on the site with the schedule and location for sessions and for BOF's so that we can have better organized BOF's. 15 to 20+ people turned up for the project management BOF so if the interest was determined before hand then it would have been great to have a room set aside for it as many of us were huddled around sitting on the floor which made it difficult to hear and contribute to the discussion.

2. 30 second intros (if feasible) and attendees list like: http://szeged2008.drupalcon.org/attendees - I was able to talk with about 20 people, but would have loved to learn more about the other 80 or so that attended.

Overall, everything was great, thanks to all the presenters and organizers!

Looking ahead to 2009

I appreciate all the volunteer and in-kind donations that went into this event, absolutely amazing.

If we're interested in growing our registration and involvement, we might:

  • Recognize that over-communicating is really hard to do when organizing a conference.
  • Have the conference sessions and schedules sorted out well in advance.
  • Identify session outcomes.
  • I found the site itself a little confusing. Both the blog section and the front page were updated regularly? If we could only consolidate.

Again, excellent work. Many thanks,

e

Sodas and Water!

I really enjoyed the conference and the Chipotle today was great! My only suggestion for improvement would be to have more drinks available. Sodas and bottled water would be nice. I wouldn't have minded forking out an extra $10 or so in conference fees to cover that. Other than that, great job everyone!

+1

excellent suggestion

some longer sessions

After the first day, which I thought was well done, enjoyable and educational, I found that some subjects simply require more time. For instance, the session "Drupal 6 - Introduction to Module Development", which was great, could have used more time (and a bigger room). Maybe for next year there could be a few time slots that are double the normal length. Not every session would benefit from these but some would. A double time allowance would allow the presenter to cover more ground or go into greater depth on a subject.

count down showing remaining capacity

It would be nice if, in the future, there was a graphical count down on the front page that showed how much capacity was left. That way everyone could judge just how quickly they should register and when the camp was sold out. Often these things aren't 100% real time but that could still be ok as long as there was a message that stated the counter's limitations.
